Oct 18, 2005Commentary, 9/10 2005September’s national elections in Norway may turn out to be a turning point in how the “oil adventure” plays itself out over the next few years. One thing is for certain – Norwegians have now grown used to the fact that the Government is well funded, being more than just a tax collector, but, more importantly, the steward of the growing oil fund. The results of the elections, which were relatively close, tell us, more than anything, to what degree Norwegians wish to make us of the oil fund and feel about how the industry must progress to ensure continued national oil profits.
