Never so bad it’s not good for something. During the previous downturn in the Norwegian oil & gas industry many companies were forced to look outside the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) for new contracts. As a result, the industry went through a healthy changing process and became more internationally competitive.

World First in Gas and Fuel Cell Technology within Shipping

Eidesvik AS is a very special shipping company. Within a traditional industry, the company is unique in the world in its efforts to steer shipping towards an environmentally friendly future. Recently they took delivery of a gas fuelled ship. In the long term Simon Eidesvik wants to see fuel cell technology in use onboard his ships.

Aiming for Shtokman

After more than a decade of patient efforts in Russia Norsk Hydro is awaiting its reward. The giant Shtokman field in the Barents Sea is worth waiting for. In the meantime Kharyaga has proven a very worthwhile involvement. Phase two of Kharyaga came on stream four weeks ago.

Norsk Hydro has for a long time contributed towards education and building competence within petroleum research in Norway. Norsk Hydro’s motive has been to take a long-term view and secure future recruitment to the industry. It is especially important to motivate a new generation to choose an education within the oil and gas industry now that the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) is entering a mature.
