Rocksource begin CSEM acquisition on Norwegian License-Spotlight

E.ON Ruhrgas Norge as operator of PL 416 has, on behalf of the partnership, entered into a contract with EMGS to undertake a Controlled Source ElectroMagnetic (CSEM) survey on the license located in block 31/8 (south of the Troll Field) of the North Sea.

The plan is to commence the survey 22 June and the survey is estimated to take one week. The vessel to be used is Stad Angler. The CSEM survey is a part of the work program of the license. Rocksource will contribute to the partnership by applying its proprietary technology to handle the electromagnetic data.

Rocksource holds 35% of the license interest. Partners are E.ON Ruhrgas (operator) with 50% and Aker Exploration with 15%. The license was awarded as part of APA 2006.

Gregor Maxwell, VP Exploration in Rocksource comments: “This is the first acquisition of a CSEM dataset on a Rocksource owned asset and marks an exciting step in the development of our exploration portfolio. We are looking forward to being able to apply our unique technological advantage in the analysis of CSEM data to this asset and also to our other assets as our portfolio continues to develop”.
