Wood Group has entered into a contract with BP Operating Company Ltd (BP) to provide topside engineering and project management services for BP's Andrew Area Development project in the central North Sea. The project scope includes the tie-back of the Kinnoull reservoir to Andrew, some 28km away, and the development of the Lower Cretaceous development located beneath the platform.
The two year contract, worth approximately £75m, covers topsides engineering, procurement and construction on the Andrew platform and encompasses the installation of a new 800 tonne module and extensive brownfield modifications scope.
The Wood Group project management and engineering team, of approximately 150 personnel, are currently working to define the offshore workscope. Subsea specialist Wood Group Kenny is also supporting the development of the Kinnoull subsea tie-back to Andrew.
Alan Curran, Wood Group Engineering (North Sea's) CEO said, "We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by BP. We look forward to maintaining and strengthening our alignment with BP's drive to improve safety and efficiency."
BP's Keith Williams, the project General Manager, said,"This contract awarded to Wood Group is the latest in a series of awards to local companies to support BP's Andrew Area developments. Hundreds of local jobs are being secured to support this project over the next couple of years, with UK businesses accounting for around 90 per cent of the total project cost of £500million. We look forward to working with Wood Group to progress the project towards a start up in 2012."
