Wood Group Logging Services, part of international energy services company John Wood Group has opened a new 2.5-acre facility in Weimar, Texas, for use in conducting hands-on well logging training for its logging operators and engineers.

The facility, which includes a working derrick and test well, will be used to teach a variety of downhole tool operations and logging classes. Topics will include cased hole logging and perforating, well log interpretation, production logging techniques, well pressure control and field safety.

Technology development, testing and demonstrations will also be done at the new site.

"Wood Group Logging Services' reputation for providing outstanding customer service is dependent upon knowledgeable, well-qualified employees," stated John Paul Jones, president of WGLS. "Up to 60 engineers and operators will be trained this year, in situations simulating a variety of well conditions and types of completions, which will enable us to continue offering safe, efficient, cost-effective logging services onshore and offshore."
