Wintershall, Germany’s largest internationally active oil and gas producer, announces the award of a major pipeline and subsea construction (PSC) contract to Subsea 7. The contract is worth approximately 300 million US Dollar.
It has been assigned after a thorough international selection process and in alignment with the other Maria license partners. The award is the latest contract in the execution of the Maria development further strengthening Wintershall’s position as an operator in the subsea arena.
The PSC contract includes a comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) agreement for three major pipeline systems linking the Maria development as a subsea tie-back to existing infrastructure in the Norwegian Sea. Subsea 7 will also install the subsea production system and control umbilicals procured by Wintershall Norge through its contract with FMC in October 2014.
“With this contract, we are moving ahead with the execution of our first operated development in Norway. Maria underlines our position as a growing operator and we are continually building our expertise in this field. This is the second major subsea contract awarded by Wintershall for the Maria project and underlines our commitment to developing fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Wintershall sees future potential for more developments of this kind in Norway, which is becoming a center of excellence for these kinds of activities,” said Bernd Schrimpf, Wintershall Norge Managing Director.
