International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has announced that Senior Associate Rod Chooramun has been promoted to Partner.

Chooramun focuses on advising clients on UK and cross-border M&A, joint ventures and project development transactions in the oil and gas sector. He has extensive in-house oil and gas experience having previously worked at BG Group (now part of Shell) and at Sumitomo Corporation in Tokyo. Before qualifying as a solicitor, Rod also worked as an exploration geologist for an international mining company and is currently a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

Key highlight matters Chooramun has advised on include:

• OMV AG on the sale of its UK’s subsidiary OMV (U.K.) Limited to Siccar Point Energy Limited (backed by Blackstone Energy Partners and Blue Water Energy) for up to USD 1 billion;
• OMV AG on the sale of a 30% interest in the Rosebank Field to Suncor Energy UK Ltd for up to USD 250 million;
• OMV on the divestment of its entire interest in the Bina Bawi field in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to Genel Energy plc; and
• Ladol Integrated Logistics FZE on its joint venture with Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd to develop leading facilities for vessel integration, conversion, repair and maintenance of FPSOs in the largest privately financed logistics base in Nigeria.
