Pen and paper are the usual tools at hand during the inspection and documentation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas, so-called Ex equipment. The time-consuming and risky papermill is now replaced by a unique digital maintenance tool.
The requirements for the documentation of maintenance and tracking of Ex equipment on offshore installations have been tightened as a consequence of the Macondo accident. Westcon Power & Automation has developed a new tool that provides a simple and concise status update of the equipment, documentation and tracking capabilities offshore.
