VEO has recently completed two large-scale wind projects, the Egersund wind farm with 33 wind turbines in Southern Norway and the Hamnefjell wind farm with 15 wind turbines in the northern part of Norway. These projects strengthen VEO’s position in the Norwegian wind power industry. Both wind farms are now up and running, and connected to the power grid through VEO’s substations and electrotechnical equipment. The Egersund project was handed over to the customer in September.
The Egersund project was a turnkey delivery including all stages from planning and design to execution. The main components were a large-scale substation with a 120 MVA main transformer and control systems. The customer, Norsk Vind Egersund AS, provided VEO with functional requirements, assigning VEO to find the most optimal solutions for the project. The scale of the wind farm renders the project impressive as the annual electricity production is equivalent to a yearly consumption of 20.000 households. Per Ove Skorpen, CEO of Norsk Vind Egersund AS, is pleased with VEO’s operations: “VEO has conducted the project based on a design-and-build contract and designed and delivered the Egersund wind farm substation at the agreed time, cost and quality. We are very satisfied with the cooperation we have had with VEO over the years and especially want to express our satisfaction with their solution-oriented approach. We look forward to collaborating with VEO in new projects in the upcoming years.”
In parallel to the Egersund project, VEO has supplied Hamnefjell wind farm with a substation and control systems. In the Hamnefjell project, VEO has proven its ability to adapt its operations and technology to extreme weather conditions with heavy snowfall. “We are proud to be trusted with deliveries of this scale, and have kept to schedule throughout both projects. As we have successfully delivered some 20 wind farm projects in the Nordics, we are pleased to increase our operations in our other home market, Norway,” says Jakob Lövdahl, Sales Manager of VEO in Norway.
There are several new wind power projects planned in the Norwegian wind power market. “Being a Nordic energy expert with optimal solutions and flexible turnkey deliveries, VEO has a lot to offer in Norway. Not only have the recent projects given us valuable experience, but they have also enabled us to develop adjusted and tested solutions for future wind power projects of scale,” says Lövdahl.
