The collaboration brings together the subsea capabilities of the Discovery™ technology and the world-class inspection capabilities of Johnson Matthey’s Oil and Gas business (Tracerco) with the subsea engineering and integrity management expertise of GATE, Inc.
Karthik Annadorai, Vice President of Engineering at GATE, notes, “GATE has had substantial experience working with Johnson Matthey’s Oil and Gas business, Tracerco, during the first Discovery™ project in the Gulf of Mexico and riser inspection campaigns on behalf of a number of our clients. Recognising the power of the technology and the benefit of providing inspection campaign planning, engineering and condition assessment support as part of a streamlined delivery solution, it was an obvious step for us to collaborate with Johnson Matthey to better meet the needs of the offshore industry in making the most of this game-changing technology.”
The multi-award-winning Discovery™ technology continues to impress operators with its technical capabilities and unique level of data acquisition. Using Discovery™ for an inspection means operators can safely assess pipe integrity from the outside without removing coatings. It provides detailed assessment of pipe and coating conditions and has also proven invaluable when measuring the integrity of pipe in pipe wall conditions as well as insulation.
Kim Thye Lee, Subsea Market Manager for Johnson Matthey, comments, “We are delighted to collaborate with GATE in supporting clients to achieve their IRM goals. It’s a relationship that has already proven to create value as GATE’s expertise takes the data obtained from Discovery™ for life extension and asset management to the next level. Their impeccable track record coupled with the fact they are familiar with the Discovery™ technology means the collaboration delivers a seamless service to our clients.”
Johnson Matthey also brings the advantage of extensive test facilities in Houston for clients who are considering using the Discovery™ technology. Lee continues, “We welcome clients from all over to witness a demonstration of the technology, complete any testing, or for technical qualification projects using these facilities.”
GATE’s contribution to the collaboration will focus on the planning, management and delivery of a comprehensive integrity campaign scope of work, and supporting clients in developing life of field assessments, risk-based management programs and integrity management plans resulting from the Discovery™ technology findings.
