BJ Services

BJ Services Company has been awarded a contract to provide subsea pile installation services by Technip Canada Limited. The hydraulic hammer pile-driving services are to be carried out offshore eastern Canada for Technip Canada on a large Engineering-Procurement-Construction-Installation (EPCI) contract.

BJ Services will drive a number of 24-in. and 36-in. subsea pin piles, with plans to commence operations in Q2 2009. The pin piles will be driven into the seafloor using its S-200 subsea hydraulic hammers while working from Technip’s Deep Pioneer and Wellservicer vessels. The operation will be supported by BJ Services personnel from operations bases in St. John’s and Lafayette, Louisiana.

Installing Conductors For First Time in Canada Although BJ Services has worked for many years in Canada, the forthcoming pile-driving operation represents the first time that the company will have carried out these particular services in Canada.

Globally, BJ Services shares a solid relationship with Technip. “We are extremely excited about working on behalf of Technip in this capacity in Canada,” said Kenny Watt, vice president, BJ Services, Tubular and Completion Assembly Services. “Given the breadth and depth of our experience in conductor installation services, I am confident that Technip Canada will realise significant benefits in the form of reduced costs and improved efficiency,” he added
