Swire Oilfield Services is strengthening its operations worldwide with the introduction of a new Sling Manufacturing and Maintenance offering at Offshore Europe 2013, in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The company is set to invest more than £185,000 in a new Swire Oilfield Services Sling Manufacturing and Repair facility in Aberdeen with a capacity to match current demand of 5,000 slings per year. The building will facilitate the manufacturing and supply of new slings to Europe, West Africa and Asia Pacific as well as lifting and slinging equipment repair and inspection and testing of cargo carrying units within the UK.
The design and manufacture of wire rope sling sets at the facility will be certified to specific requirements and standards in DNV2.7-1, EN13414 Part 1 and EN13411 Parts 1 and 3.
Roy Burrell, UK director and general manager of Swire Oilfield Services, said: “We have identified a growing demand for high quality wire rope, slings and products and lifting equipment inspection services as well as reliable supply hire and maintenance of lifting equipment and accessories, specifically in areas such as the North Sea.
