Woodside Petroleum is selling Malaysia’s Petronas out of North African country Mauritania and the Chinguetti oilfield for $418 million, a statement said Thursday.

The deal includes all onshore and offshore assets, including the undone Tiof field, and the move is seen as a way to depart the disappointing, 120-million-barrel Chinguetti find it which it has a 47 percent stake.

The Aussie outfit said it would “examine its options” in relation to its other Africa assets.

The Petronas deal closes in November.
