Just days after awarding Russia’s biggest tubulars contract, TNK-BP has handed a $3-billion drillling and oilfield services contracts to suppliers across Russia.
TNK-BP’s own drilling businesses stood to earn a third of the new contract awards and is enjoying a $500-million overhaul.
Weatherford and Nabors were among the newcomers to Western Siberia handpicked by TNK-BP. Others set to drill for TNK-BP are Integra Drilling, Orenburg Drilling Co. and Catobneft (CAToil).
The awards come just hours after Rosneft had announced oilfield service outfit Halliburton would in 2008 bring its hydraulic fracturing tools to Western Siberia’s giant Priobskoye field.
Workover winners were Integra, CAToil, Petroalliance, the Belorussian Well Stimulation and Capital Repair Co., Permnefteotdacha and Incomneft.
Contracts for cementing, mud fluids and directional and other specialist services will be handed out in 2008.
