Norwegian oil company Statoil has chosen Paris-based supplier contractor Technip to build and install the pipelines of the Gjoa field in the North Sea.

The $24-million job comprises installing 25 kilomtres of infield, oil and gas pipelines in Block 35/9 and Block 36/7, 60 kilometres northeast of the Troll C field, where water is up to 380 metres deep.

The 4.9-inch, 12-inch and 14-inch lift pipelines will be welded at Technip's spool base in Orkanger, Norway.

The pipelay vessel Apache will install the pipelines in 2009.
