Suretank has secured its first major US order since launching its new manufacturing facility in Houma, Louisiana in March.
The $4 million order from Hoover Container Solutions Inc, based in Houston, comprises of chemical transport tanks and containers for the safe transfer of chemicals and equipment for oil drilling to offshore deepwater rigs.
News of the contract comes as Suretank participates in a trade mission to Texas organised by Enterprise Ireland and led by the Irish Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mr Richard Bruton TD.
Aimed at increasing and diversifying the level of Irish exports to the Southern US states, the trade mission coincides with the Oil & Gas Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston from 5th to 8th May 2014.
Welcoming the announcement Minister Bruton said: “At the centre of our Action Plan for Jobs is supporting a powerful engine of Irish enterprise. Suretank is a great example of the type of company we are trying to support – an innovative Irish company, manufacturing high-tech equipment for export markets, selling it to some of the biggest companies in the world and creating jobs in its headquarters in Louth. Today’s announcement that Suretank has won a $4million contract with Hoover to supply equipment for its rapidly-growing oil and gas business is very welcome, and I wish them every success for the future”.
Martin Laverty, Market Development Director at Suretank, explained: "Securing this contract is a testament to the products that we produce, the quality standards we uphold and the market reputation that we've built up. We're a global organisation, but very proud of our Irish roots so this contract win comes at an opportune time when we're supporting an Irish trade mission to the US.”
