UK-based Texan explorer Empyrean Energy trumpeted Friday a stop to drilling at the Sugarloaf well, where operator Texas Crude Energy encountered “significant gas shows” and “multiple gas flares” along a horizontally drilled 2,700-foot stretch of borehole.
The well might now be open-hole tested without modern aids, as the flares and shows resulted despite the “heavy mud” environment in the well.
A workover rig will now run tubing to learn the importance of a number of “sweet spots” encountered, a statement from company director Tom Kelly said.
