Subsea 7 is to establish a new office in northern Norway, in Tromsø.
Following its award for the pipelay and subsea installation contract for Statoil’s pioneering Aasta Hansteen project earlier this year, Subsea 7 sees increasing activity in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. With an office in Tromsø, the company will have a solid platform for effective project execution and for close collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers in northern Norway.
The decision on Tromsø came after a long and thorough assessment. Stuart Fitzgerald, Subsea 7´s VP Norway, is convinced this will have a positive impact for the entire region.
“Tromsø was selected after a detailed evaluation process. This is not just about the development of the Aasta Hansteen field, but is part of our overall long-term commitment to northern Norway. We are looking forward to establishing the new office and to starting the recruitment process,” said Stuart Fitzgerald.
“The Aasta Hansteen project has already engaged local suppliers, and this will continue as we develop our presence,” said Stian Sande, Subsea 7´s Project Director for Aasta Hansteen. “Tromsø is ideally situated; it gives us access to qualified engineers and it ensures close cooperation with local suppliers in the counties of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark for Aasta Hansteen and future projects.”
