Toronto-based pipe coater ShawCor will carry out the $40 million weighting-down for the pipelines of Canadian oil company EnCana’s Deep Panuke offshore project in Nova Scotia, the company heralded at the weekend.

The award was made to Shaw & Shaw Limited, a Nova Scotia registered company owned by Shaw Pipe Protection Ltd. of Calgary and The Shaw Group Limited of Halifax.

Shaw & Shaw will provide concrete weight coating, anode installation and logistics for the 175-kilometre, 22-inch pipeline. The trunkline will move gas from the Deep Panuke production platform to Goldboro, Nova Scotia and the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline system.

With the ShawCor award, EnCana moves from the longer lead-item contracts to the bulk of needed tenders at Deep Panuke.
