ShawCor signals $85M Pluto deal

Canada-based Shawcor’s Bredero Shaw pipe-coating business has received an $85-million contract to get flow-assurance, anti-corrosion and concrete-weighting into the pipelines of Woodside’s Pluto project for liquefied natural gas, or LNG, in Western Australia.

Bredero Shaw will coat the 180 kilometres of 36-inch pipeline in Orkanger, Norway during 2008 and 2009.

The pipe will connect the Pluto field in Western Australia's Carnarvon basin to Woodside's LNG facility on the Burrup Peninsula.

Bredero Shaw will also coat 55 km of 20-inch insulated line that’ll bring gas to a shallow-water production platform, while 180 kilometers of six-inch pipe is needed to provide monoethylene glycol for offshore gas production pipelines.
