Tullow update on India drilling

Norway-based survey outfit and offshore E&P player Rocksource ASA has secured a 10 percent stake in exploration Block CY DWN 2001/1 offshore India after prolonged negotiations with state oil champ ONGC.

The deal brings to India a North Sea leaseholder concept of including a field-equity partner with access to either rigs or “seismic” to offer in exchange for field stakes.

A first well is being drilled, and Rocksource has said it has applied its “pinprick” CSEM electromagnetic survey kit to generate a “high-impact” prospect with more than a 60 percent shot at success.

Results are due by early October for operator ONGC with 45 percent, Oil India (20 percent), Petrobras (25 percent) and Rocksource with 10 percent.
