Drilling at the Hook Head field in the Celtic Sea off Ireland received a boost Monday, as Sosina Exporation farmed into the field and the Petrolia semi-subersible drill rig was handed over temporarily from Island Oil & Gas.
Hook Head developer Providence Resources of Dublin, Ireland will borrow the semi-submersible drill rig for 50 days of drilling.
Sosina will farm in with a five percent stake in Hook Head license 2/07 and Blackrock license 3/07.
Providence, with 40 percent, is joined at Hook Head by Dyas BV at (15 percent), Atlantic Petroleum (10 percent), Forest Gate Resources (15 percent) and Challenger Minerals with 15 percent.
The prize is a “large anticline” where, in 1971, Marathon logged 100 feet of hydrocarbons in Lower Cretaceous sandstoned but could not test the well using the technology of the day.
