Brazilian energy champion Petrobras has said a first, pilot production stage starting late in 2010 at the giant oilfield Tupi will yield 100,000 barrels per day, news agency Thomson Financial has reported.
The figure is 10 percent of what BG chief exec Frank Chapman said is eventually possible at the offshore trove when initially asked about the field’s development.
Tupi is believed to contain up to eight billion barrels of equivalent and has reported in detail by Scandoil.com since its discovery late in 2007.
Scandoil.com affiliate Scandinavian Oil-Gas Magazine will feature a special deepwater section in its next issue.
