Expanding shipper Ocean HeavyLift has posted a second-quarter earnings net loss of $1.7 million, worse slightly than in the year-ago period on start-up problems.
Newly listed in Oslo, OHL is doubling its fleet of rig-carrying vessels to four, with the promise of new rig-company contracts around the peak of the new-build baptisms after 2009: Letters of intent worth some $41.5 million supplement contracts to 2009 worth $54.7 million.
The zenith of new-build rig entries in 2010 has already produced higher lift rates.
New lift vessels cost $100 million a piece.
