Swedish oil company Lundin Petroleum has an oil find at the Luno prospect, where the reservoir was struck through a “clastic” Jurassic rock layer some 2 kilometres below the seabed.

The Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible drill rig bored North Sea well 16/1-8. Extensive data and samples are understood to suggest a condensate accumulation.

Partner oil company Revus, with 30 percent in license PL 338, made the announcement. The two are joined at Luno by RWE Dea Norge with 20 per cent The Luno well lies 28 km east of the Gudrun discovery in the central North Sea, where water is “shallow” at 108 meters.
