Singapore yard Keppel FELS Ltd. has earned the US$206-million job of building a 500-man accommodations semi-submersible for Floatel International Ltd.
The KFELS SSAU 3600 is to be delivered by year-end 2010.
“The world’s demand for semi-submersible accommodation vessels is presently stronger than the current dedicated fleet of 19 units can satisfy,” a Keppel statement said.
Meanwhile, Sweden-based Floatel International intends to list their stock in Oslo sometime in 2008, a company source told Scandoil.com on Monday.
It is understood Keppel Offshore & Marine’s Deepwater Technology Group designed the six-column unit for work outside the North Sea. A similar order in April was for a North Sea version.
