KBR's Kellogg Joint Venture Group has won a A$300 million ($242 million) Chevron job extension in Australia to do more front-end engineering and design, or FEED, for the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project.
KBR leads the design team for the liquefied natural gas plant on Barrow Island, soon to have three, five-million-tonne-a-year liquefied natural gas trains. The FEED includes a domestic gas plant expected to be fast-tracked as much as possible.
Gorgon will develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields up to 200 kilometres offshore northwest Western Australia, where some 40 trillion cubic feet of gas forms Australia's largest-known resource.
Chevron is responsible for the overal integrity of the project and has a 50 percent interest. ExxonMobil and Shell hold 25 percent each.
The KJVG includes Clough Projects Australia and Hatch Associates Ltd, awarded the Gorgon downstream FEED and construction management contract in July 2005.
