As part of BG's exploration licence commitments, the campaign will map the seafloor to interpret, identify, sample and analyse potential hydrocarbon seeps. Fugro's modern 65-metre survey vessel, MV Fugro Brasilis, commenced the two-month mapping and interpretation portion in July 2015.

Contracted by Kvaerner, Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Norway will supply its Vikotherm™ R2 thermal insulation coating to be applied to 12 risers. Statoil, partner makes gas and condensate discovery in the North SeaJul 24, 2015Operator Statoil and its PL146/PL333 partner Total E&P Norge have made a gas and condensate discovery in the Julius prospect in the King Lear area in the North Sea.
The discovery well 2/4-23S, drilled by Maersk Gallant, proved gas and condensate in the Ula formation. Statoil estimates the volumes in Julius to be between 15 and 75 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent.

Eni makes important gas discovery in the Egyptian Nile DeltaJul 21, 2015Eni has made an important gas discovery in the Nooros exploration prospect, located in the Abu Madi West license in the Nile Delta, 120 kilometers north-east of Alexandria, Egypt. Preliminary estimates of the discovery account for a potential of 15 billion cubic meters of gas in place with upside, plus associated condensates. Eni achieved the important exploration success through the Nidoco NW2 Dir NFW well, which reached a total depth of 3,600 meters and encountered a 60 meters thick gas bearing sandstone interval of Messianian age with excellent petrophysical properties, further of other gas layers in the overlying Pliocene section.
Fugro adds cable-lay to its trenching servicesJul 20, 2015Fugro is now offering cable-lay in addition to trenching to its offshore windfarm and tidal energy clients.
The company has equipped its trenching vessel Fugro Saltire with a compact, custom-made, cable-lay spread. This comprises a reel drive system to store the cables, a tensioner to lay them, twin winches and a quadrant deployment system on rails, all fitted to the rear deck of the Fugro Saltire alongside the existing trenching equipment.
Shell to sell its equity interest in the Elba LNG joint venture to Kinder MorganJul 17, 2015Kinder Morgan, Inc. and Shell have reached an agreement for Kinder Morgan to purchase 100 percent of Shell's equity interest in Elba Liquefaction Company, LLC (ELC), the owner of the Elba Liquefaction Project, which is proposed to be constructed and operated at the existing Elba Island LNG Terminal near Savannah, Georgia. Kinder Morgan currently owns 51 percent of the ELC joint venture.
Maersk Drilling decommissions Jackup Maersk EndurerJul 16, 2015Maersk Drilling has decided to decommission the jackup Maersk Endurer(350' ILC) from the fleet and recycle the rig with Zhoushan Changhong International Ship Recycling in China. “Given the current market situation and the over-supply of drilling rigs in the offshore market, there is a strong need to retire older rigs. Therefore, Maersk Drilling has decided to decommission its oldest rig in the fleet, Maersk Endurer,” says Morten Pilnov, head of Global Sales in Maersk Drilling.
Rosneft and Statoil completed pilot drilling at the North-Komsomolskoye fieldJul 15, 2015Rosneft and Statoil ASA completed drilling works as part of the Pilot Project at the PK1 layer of the North-Komsomolskoye field. During 2015 the companies jointly drilled 2 horizontal exploitation wells. Using best global practices Rosneft and Statoil ASA implemented extended logging, including core and fluid samplings. Also, for the first time onshore in Russia, a well was completed using 'openhole gravel packing' in a horizontal section of 1,000 m.
