Gazprom nod to final Shtokman partner imminent

Gazprom will develop Shtokman alone....-Main

Gazprom offshore business Sevmorneftegaz will choose between a combined StatoilHydro and ConocoPhillips, or perhaps both, when the draw is made for a final partner for the giant Barents Sea gas field Shtokman.

The Barents Observer, an online news service for the Euro-Arctic region, wrote that Sevmorneftegaz boss Yuri Komaraov confirmed in Murmansk that a decision was imminent on who would join Gazprom and Total with a 24 percent stake in the project.

Shtokman contains some 3.7 billion cubic metres of gas, or three times the Troll field, the Norwegian economy’s early lifeline.

Scandoil.com has reported extensively on the planning for Arctic oil and liquefied natural gas in the region.
