Offshore fleet owner Ezra Holdings has reported a jack-up lift boat has been lost at sea while making its cross-Atlantic journey from the U.S.A to the North Sea for a wind park installation contract.
The jack-up lift boat Titan-1 is understood to have slid off the M/V Ancora and capsized. No lives were lost when it sunk to the bottom.
The semi-submersible ship Ancora had been having engine trouble and began to pitch and roll heavily in robust waves during the journey enroute from Pascagoula to Liverpool.
Titan-1 was fully insured by Casadilla Group Pte Ltd, a business of Ezra and KS Energy Services Limited.
While Ezra didn’t expect a financial hit for the accident at sea before late 2009, the Titan -1 was hired to an 817-day contract with “a major operator” for the installation, servicing and maintenance of wind turbines offshore Denmark and the UK.
KS Energy and subsidiary Atlantic Oilfield Services are in discussions with their customer to substitute another ship for the Titan-1.
