Danish oil company DONG has struck through oil and gas while appraising the Oselvar find in the southern North Sea off Norway.
The Mærsk Guardian drill rig tested well 1/3-10 in License 274 and found “a range of small-scale formations”. The well then flowed 3,300 barrels of oil, though it showed 2,670 standard cubic feet of gas for each cubic metre of oil.
Oselvar in 72 metres of water was drilled down to 3288 m total depth, and a new appraisal is set to go deeper still.
BG in Norway is the Maersk Guardian’s next taskmaster. A prospect called Ipswich awaits at 1/3-6 in the same license.
Oselvar is an old 1991 find of Elf Petroleum. It lies just 20 km east of the Gyda field.
DONG is joined in the license by PA Resources, Noreco and Revus Energy.
