Norway-based northern-Iraq player DNO said Friday that work on its Tawke field export pipeline is on-time, but it still does not have permission to export oil from newly completed processing facilities.
The problem appears to lie in Iraqi politics, with Baghdad officials warning Kurds in the north that their oil deals are not valid.
“The cooperation and excellent support from the Kurdistan Regional Government has been key to our successes in this project,” a DNO statement said, adding, ” final completion of this work is subject to receiving the necessary permits for tie-in and export.”
Meanwhile, an upper reservoir of the Tawke field has added 5,000 barrels of oil per day to a recent production test, and flow rates of up to 28,000 bopd have been averaged from four tests across eight wells.
The company aims to release a reserves report for Tawke by mid-December 2007 just as new surveys point to eight new drilling prospects.
