Decom North Sea (DNS), the North Sea offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum, is hosting an evening networking event in Norway this month (Monday 27 August 2012) ahead of the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) conference and exhibition starting the next day.
In partnership with Norsk Industri, DNS is hosting the free networking reception to raise awareness of the huge opportunities in offshore decommissioning in the North Sea. The event will be held at Radisson SAS Atlantic, Stavanger, from 5pm-7pm.
With the cost of decommissioning around 500 installations in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) estimated by Norway’s Climate and Pollution Agency, to cost about £16 billion (NOK 160 billion), DNS has been increasingly involved in highlighting the opportunities for the supply chain to win significant levels of this work.
Latest research by Professor Alex Kemp from the University of Aberdeen estimates the cost of decommissioning some 550 fixed, floating and subsea installations in the UK Continental Shelf to be between £30 billion (nearly 290 billion NOK) and £36 billion (over 340 billion NOK) between now and 2040.
