U.K. supermajor BP has extended by two years a framework contract with Aker Solutions for modifications and maintenance support, a move worth up to 1.5 billion kroner ($212 million) to the Norway-based supplier-contractor.
The extension to 2011 is the second declared by BP for engineering, procurement, pre-fabrication, offshore installation and commissioning.
The deal was for all BP's offshore facilities off Norway, or 12 platforms: the Valhall field centre's five platforms and two unmanned platforms; Ula field centre's three platforms and the unmanned Hod and Tambar.
Aker Solutions said 200 offshore and 200 offshore staff is expected to grow until 2010. The main activities in 2009 include maintenance and minor alterations plus the massive Valhall Redevelopment and Valhall Flank Gas Lift projects.
