Prosafe acquires FPSO conversion candidate-Spotlight

Success developing Australian Worldwide Exploration’s Tui field has produced contract extensions for Cyprus-based floating production specialist Prosafe Production.

The floating production storage and offloading ship, the FPSO Umuroa, will stay in place an extra three years and four months to 2015, making the fixed contract worth $280 million. Seven, one year options are now available to AWE.

The field and the Australian market are served by a dedicated 300,000-barrel tanker, the Akama. After opening last year, the field quickly produced 90,000 barrels oil equivalent a day from three of four sub-sea wells.

The new deal with Prosafe reflects the fourth well starting up.
