StatoilHydro has done its part to stir the upcoming Angolan oil and gas licensing round with an announcement Tuesday that the offshore Kizomba C development is producing from for the supermajors from the Mondo field.
The Block 15 field will plateau at 100,000 barrels of oil per day, but production from two other fields, Saxi and Batuque, will together double Kizomba C flows “later” in 2008.
“Angola is the country that contributes the most to StatoilHydro’s international portfolio and it is very important for StatoilHydro,” StatoilHydro asset manager, Jon Bakken, said in a statement
Mondo is the first Kizomba C field to come on stream after its discovery in 2000 some 370 kilometres northwest of the capital Luanda. Area water depths reach 800 metres.
The Kizomba C Development includes a floating, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, or FPSO, for Mondo and one for Saxi/Batuque, plus 36 sub-sea wells.
Esso is Block operator with 40 percent, and is joined by BP with 27 percent, ENI with 20 percent and StatoilHydro with 13 percent.
