Norwegian ship owner Solstad Offshore has asked Aker Yards to build an offshore supply vessel that can handle a remotely operated vechicle plus an offshore subsea construction vessel in a NOK 1.4 billion ($238.3 million) order.
The PSV/ROV 06 CD design will be delivered by the third quarter of 2010 — the high-water mark for newbuild semi-submersibles entering the market. The OSCV 06 L work ship will steam out in early in 2011.
The PSV/ROV 06 CD will wield a 100-tonne crane and boast a helipad landing. The construction vessel for sub-sea work features 400 t and 50 t cranes, moon pools, helipad, ROV gear, pipe- and cable-laying.
In a pattern of Norwegian shipbuilding, vessel hulls will be built by Aker Yards in Romania before outfitting at Aker yards in Norway.
