Acergy wins $825M Malay mega-job

Offshore engineering outfit Acergy’s Malaysian business has won an $825 million contract for the development of the deepwater offshore Gumusut-Kakap field, where Shell has awarded TL Offshore the main field contract to SapuraCrest business TL Offshore.

Shell operates Gumusut-Kakap as PETRONAS’s contractor and co-venture partners are Petronas of Malaysia, ConocoPhillips and Murphy Oil.

Meanwhile, Acergy’s Malay business will engineer, procure, transport and install produciton facilities in water 1,200 metres deep. Included is an oil export pipeline, catenary riser, flowlines, jumpers, steel catenary risers pipe termination point and flowline structures.

Acergy will also install mooring equipment for a semi-submersible floating production system.

Engineering is underway and offshore fitting is set to start in 2010 with Acergy’s own Sapura 3000 heavy lift and deepwater pipelay vessel.
