Danish energy company DONG Energy has okayed construction contracts for the development of the Nini East field in the Danish sector of the North Sea, partner Noreco said Monday.

DONG has signed contracts with Acergy pipeline construction and with Bladt Industries for the building and installation of a platform. First oil is planned for year-end 2009.

Nini East partners have agreed to spend 2.1 billion Danish kroner ($211 million) on a pipeline between Nini and Nini East and the drilling of wells after production starts. The partners are targeting the field’s 17 million barrels.

Nini East will be unmanned and stand some seven kilometers to the northeast of the Nini and Cecilie platforms.

Dong operates Nini East with a 40 percent stake. RWE Dea holds 30 percent. Noreco gained a 50 percent stake in the Siri complex of fields and a 30 percent stake in Nini East after its buy-up of Talisman Oil Denmark earlier this year.
