SIMMONS EDECO, supplier of valve, wellhead and asset integrity maintenance and onshore drilling services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that it has appointed Gavin Sherwood to the newly-created position of Business Development Manager for SIMMONS EDECO Europe Limited.

In his role, Sherwood oversees all global sales and marketing initiatives for the company’s valve, wellhead and asset integrity maintenance services, which are supplied from its primary European base of operations in Great Yarmouth, England.

“Although SIMMONS EDECO has been supporting major operators in the UK North Sea and Dutch North Sea with valve, wellhead and asset integrity maintenance services for many years, the time is ripe to actively offer them globally,” says Sherwood. “Through my previous roles at Centrica, I have worked with SIMMONS EDECO, so I know that they ‘move mountains’ to help customers achieve their goals. The company is an independent service provider that operates without being constrained by OEM demands, so they deliver an extremely diverse service to clients by innovating and manufacturing effective alternative solutions, as well as being able to supply and service the traditional OEM equipment. Coupled with its excellent reputation in the UK, I’m confident that SIMMONS EDECO will soon be recognised globally as the ‘go to’ company for valve, wellhead and asset integrity services.”

With 26 years in well services, Sherwood understands what operators require when it comes to well integrity. Before joining SIMMONS EDECO, Sherwood worked for 10 years in a variety of well engineering roles with Centrica, most recently as Well Integrity Engineer at Centrica E&P in Aberdeen, Scotland and previously as Well Engineer Superintendent at Centrica Storage, Hull, England. He also continues to draw upon the 16 years he worked for the Expro Group as Well Services Operations Supervisor, during which time he was responsible for managing operations for customers in the UK and overseas.

“In view of our plans to expand and offer our valve, wellhead and asset integrity services to oil and gas operators globally, we also intend to offer our services to the petrochemical and oil and gas terminal operators. We’re very keen to build upon the company’s presence in the UKCS,” says Brian Kelly, Manager of SIMMONS EDECO Europe Limited. “With Gavin’s in-depth experience of managing well integrity projects, I am certain that he will ensure that our customers will continue to receive outstanding service, and that he will effectively nurture new relationships with operators around the world,” he added.

Originally from Norfolk, England, Sherwood is based in Great Yarmouth, and reports to Brian Kelly.
