SGS

SGS reports the acquisition of the chemical characterization business and its assets, formerly run by the LGC Group. The laboratory is well-equipped in the areas of inorganic analysis, spectroscopy and thermal analysis for fuels, polymers and catalysts. With a team of 8 highly specialized members and serving mainly the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry, the laboratory generated revenues in excess of £750K in 2010.

In the fall of 2010, SGS UK embarked on an important extension and upgrade to its existing lab facilities in Ellesmere Port and the business will move to the SGS facilities in early 2011.

"The combination of these two investments will greatly enhance and broaden our services to our customers in the UK and Europe," commented Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS.
