Expro has invested in a new training center to underline its commitment to developing the skills of its workforce in Asia.
The new facility, at the company's supply base in Kemaman, Malaysia, has been created to service the high demand for skilled labor and the company's regional growth. The centre is the first of its kind in the area and will enable localised training to be delivered. It will serve employees across Asia, to further develop the region's commitment to delivering operational excellence to customers across the oil and gas industry.
The center will officially be opened soon by a local dignitary.
Expro's decision to develop a training center will deliver both economic and social benefits to the company and workforce, reducing the need for employees to travel to the UK for training.
The US $420,000 center will focus on providing practical and classroom-based theory courses in disciplines including well testing; instrumentation; fluids and sampling; subsea equipment; and safety and management training.
The main features include two well-equipped classrooms seating 20 persons in each, with one room being used as an instrumentation facility for specialized training. The testing equipment is located in a secure area, for environmental protection against the unpredictable heat and rainfall, allowing delegates to train all year round. Advanced well test equipment will provide a full flow loop to recreate flowing well conditions using water and air.
Expro's Asia region director Ed Anderson said, "The center will enable us to provide localized training in the region as part of our global growth strategy. We aim for each of our regions to have leading facilities which will provide on-the-ground training for our employees.
"The Asia region continues to make excellent progress in many aspects of our business. We have been expanding in to different operating countries and are working with new customers on challenging projects.
"The new training center is something of which our employees and the company can be proud. It highlights our commitment to the region and is another major step towards in delivering our Excellence in Operations objectives."
