RBG, that was recently acquired by Stork Technical Services, won the coveted ‘Business Efficiency’ prize at this year’s Oil & Gas UK Awards.
The award recognises the organisation that delivered improved operational performance through innovation. The presentation, in front of more than 500 industry leaders and guests, was made by Sir Robert Smith, MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, at last night's glittering ceremony at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Receiving the award for its innovative schedule of rates (SOR) contract structure, RBG demonstrated the SOR could improve the predictability of offshore fabric maintenance project costs and, crucially, deliver significant OPEX (operating expenditure) savings without compromising safety.
RBG replaced the standard reimbursable contract originally in place for the delivery of fabric maintenance workscopes at Morcambe Bay for Hydrocarbon Resources Limited (HRL), a Centrica subsidiary, with an SOR structure and, within a year, delivered 24% OPEX savings whilst maintaining an excellent quality of work and HSEQ performance.
The success achieved on the HRL contract has led to RBG to discussing the roll-out of similarly innovative agreements with other major fabric maintenance clients in the UKCS.
Wayne Henderson, Commercial & Sales Director for RBG, said: "It is a great achievement to win the ‘Business Efficiency’ award and be recognised by our peers and the wider industry. We developed the SOR in direct response to customer demand for a more efficient and cost-effective method of fabric maintenance delivery and it has achieved excellent results almost immediately.”
Peter Haigh, Process Integrity Manager, EIS for Centrica Energy Upstream, said: "Centrica Energy would like to congratulate RBG, both on winning this award and in delivering year on year performance improvements, which have realised significant value for our business. Maintaining the fabric of our normally unmanned installations (NUI's) is an ongoing challenge, due to the restricted access, and the increased productivity delivered by RBG's Schedule of Rates Contract represents a significant step forward in achieving a sustainable solution."
Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, Malcolm Webb, said: “The Oil & Gas UK Awards allow us to celebrate the people and companies with the energy, expertise and pioneering approach to addressing the challenges presented in a mature province such as the UKCS. These awards recognise the wide range of achievements in the industry, both by individuals and companies.”
