The extraordinary efforts of a North-east woman in using a sporting multi-event to integrate the rapidly growing workforce of a leading energy technology services company have been recognised.
Deborah Crawford, from Proserv, was named Captain of the Year for league 2 at the 2013 Corporate Decathlon Awards after ensuring staff from the company’s four bases in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire were brought together to take part in all events.
The Corporate Decathlon competition between businesses across the North-east takes place throughout the year. The 10 activities include orienteering mountain biking, touch rugby and the Highland Games. Each team is led by an event captain who is responsible for arranging their competitors and ensuring their side is prepared for the respective events.
As the overall decathlon captain for Proserv, global tax manager Deborah was responsible for ensuring a cross section of competitors took part in each competition. With Proserv entering for the first time, Deborah took the opportunity to work towards the company’s goal of building a fun and dynamic workplace which promotes healthy living by selecting teams which mixed those from various areas of the business rather than on sporting prowess.
