Petrobras' well 9-RJS-660, located in the Lula field, has posted the Company's highest volume of production for May, reaching an average of 28,436 barrels of oil per day (bpd). This well is the first to produce on a commercial basis in the Santos Basin pre-salt cluster.
This result confirms the high potential of Brazil's pre-salt reservoirs. Taking oil and natural gas output, the total volume was 36,322 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).
The well is interconnected to the Cidade de Angra dos Reis FPSO, and is the first of six production wells to be connected to the FPSO. In addition, a gas injection well is already connected to the FPSO and since the beginning of April 2011, has been reinjecting produced gas into the reservoir from 9-RJS-660. Another two injection wells are also planned, one for water, and the other water-alternating-gas.
The FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis is expected to produce 100,000 bpd in 2012.
The consortium developing production in block BMS-11 (Lula field) includes Petrobras (65%) as the operator, BG Group (25%), and Galp Energia (10%).
