Deirdre Michie, Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK.
The annual Offshore Decommissioning Conference, which is jointly organised by Decom North Sea and Oil & Gas UK, has announced this year’s keynote speaker as Deirdre Michie, Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK.
Entitled “Taking the Initiative”, the conference will take place 17 - 19 November at Fairmont, St Andrews. Previously described as “the best gathering in the UK of active Decommissioning people”, the conference aims to take forward the discussion around decommissioning, with a focus on engaging real solutions, right now.
The move into this next phase comes at a time when decommissioning costs are forecast to potentially rise over the next 35 years, reaching beyond a predicted £50 billion (2014 prices). Speaking in this context, Deirdre will set the scene for a conference packed with insight and current thinking from a line-up of experts who represent operators, the service sector and a range of industry and government bodies.
