This year’s Offshore Europe organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, brought together innovations in terms of efficiency and safety, in line with the current economic climate. In keeping with the theme, Belzona drew attention to its novel technologies that help reduce costs associated with the installation and maintenance of offshore assets.
One of the focus areas at Offshore Europe 2015 was cold bonding, where a 100% solids epoxy adhesive is used, in place of welding, to bond metallic substrates. Jérémie Maillard, Belzona Project Manager – Oil and Gas, presented a paper on the use of “Belzona Cold Bonding” as part of the Technical Session 12: Managing and Maintaining Our Offshore Assets Effectively. Mr Maillard commented: “The presentation mainly focused on scenarios where hot work is not desirable or permissible and a viable alternative can be proposed. Safety critical systems in particular benefit from installation and repair techniques that are safer and less hazardous than hot work.”
