Northern Petroleum-4

Northern Petroleum says that Jon Murphy has been appointed as Non-executive Chairman of the Company, with immediate effect. Jon has over 30 years of experience in the exploration and production industry.

In 1999, Jon joined Venture Production plc as a board director in the role of Chief Operating Officer. He played a key role in Venture's growth from a private equity-backed small business, through its flotation in 2002, and on to the sale of the business to Centrica for approximately £1.3 billion in 2009.

Jon holds a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of London and began his career in 1979 as a logging geologist. Jon spent his early industry years in the North Sea and South-East Asia before moving to Lasmo plc in 1989 where he held several positions in geology, planning and new business, while being based in both the UK and Asia.

Jon is currently a Non-executive Director of AIM quoted Trinity Exploration and Production plc, having been closely involved with its growth since inception.
