Meggitt Sensing Systems has announced the global market launch of the Endevco model 727, an extremely lightweight piezoresistive accelerometer designed for accurate shock measurement during drop testing of consumer electronic devices, among other shock and impact testing environments. Available in four ranges (2,000g, 6,000g, 20,000g and 60,000g), the model 727 can measure shocks in g ranges well above current drop test sensors.
The Endevco model 727 offers exceptional frequency response, from DC to 10kHz for the 2kg range and up to DC to 100kHz for the 60kg range, to capture the entire frequency range of interest. In addition, it has been tested and rated to survive shocks up to 1.5 times its range. At only 0.3 grams for the accelerometer body and 1.1 grams per foot for the integral 10-foot cable, mass loading to the test object is minimal. Its 0.28-inch diameter, anodized aluminum package is designed for adhesive mounting. The standard unit comes with an A2LA-certified calibration taken at 10 volts (other input voltages should be specified at time of order).
The Endevco model 42894 removal tool is included with each unit. Recommended signal conditioning for use with the model 727 includes the model 126 three-channel DC bridge amplifier, the model 136 three-channel signal conditioner and the model 436 DC differential voltage amplifier.
