Maxoil Solutions

Aberdeen-based oil and gas consultancy, Maxoil Solutions (Maxoil) looks set for a busy 2010, with plans to grow its global presence significantly over the next 12 months.

The company, which was recently awarded IS09001 accreditation, provides a holistic approach to process performance optimisation for a number of oil and gas industry clients, combining process engineering and production chemistry disciplines with a wide range of additional specialist areas of expertise.

Maxoil – which celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2009 – plans to further establish and grow its presence in three new international arenas this year.

In addition to its Norwegian subsidiary Maxoil Norge AS’ Bergen office, which was opened in 2008, the company is looking to build on this existing presence in Norway and expand to Stavanger to support its growing operations and increase its market penetration in Scandinavia in 2010.

And the firm, which also has an office in Houston – set up in 2005 in response to an increase in demand for work in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska – intends to expand its global reach further still, through establishing presences in both Perth, Australia and Malaysia, in an effort to capatalise on the growing Far Eastern and Australasian markets in 2010.

Maxoil has already secured an exclusive agency agreement in Malaysia, with specialist oil and gas technical and engineering services provider, Dialog Systems, which will see its full range of services offered in the major oil and gas hubs throughout the Far East.

The international expansion plans come on the back of an extremely positive first five years in business for Maxoil.

The company initially started life as PRIMAS Consultancy, which was established by Wally Georgie in 1999, before Maxoil Solutions was set up in 2004, by Dr Georgie, along with fellow Maxoil founding director, Mel Dow.

The firm, which now employs 20 members of staff across the world, recorded a global turnover of more than £3million for the last financial year to the end of March 2009 and is on target to improve on these results this year.

Dr Georgie says he is delighted Maxoil has ended its first five years in business in such a strong position and is eager to continue to build upon its success for an equally positive future.

He said: “We’re very pleased to have reached the milestone of five years in business, during which we have positioned Maxoil at the forefront of supplying specialist process and production chemistry consultancy services within the oil and gas consultancy sector, through the provision of innovative, knowledge driven and practical solutions for our clients.

“A major element of our growth strategy has always been to expand our global reach by establishing bases in other key countries. Having built a reputation within the UK market for applying a holistic approach to troubleshooting and process optimisation that delivers practical and cost effective results, we’re keen to replicate these services further afield.

“This year is certainly shaping up to be an exciting one for the company as we look to build our presence in Stavanger, Kuala Lumpur and Perth – in addition to consolidating our existing offices in Aberdeen, Bergen and Houston – and we look forward to further growth and success in 2010 and beyond.
